Betsy,
It is definitely a fine line that the Fed is currently pursueing in trying to boost our economy while keeping inflation in check. While I agree that these polciies can not work in the long term, the short term effects should generally be positive. Inflation is still extremely weak, even if food costs are rising, and the worry continues to be deflation not inflation on a macroeconomic basis for the Fed. I expect the Fed to pull back in their money printing excercise once they see strong, consistent job growth. And dont forget, the weak dollar has led to an export boom which has allowed many factories to begin hiring workers again. There are two sides to each coin, let's see if the Fed has the power and resolve to pull back on their money printing policies once the job market improves. Thanks for commenting!

Its nice to hear a rosy outlook, and I will not totally dispute that there are some good signs in the economy. But sorry to be doom and gloom, until the FED stops doing "quantitative easing" a term that means printing money without gold to back it... we are risking hyperinflation. Right now, commodities trading is high, that translates into more expensive food costs to consumers. Since we are de-valuing the dollar the inflation has to happen, and it is happening in the common goods items that affect your average middle class and poorer class people the hardest.
